“Children are the seed of humanity. Throughout the history of painting they have seldom been treated as an independent subject. I feel that shedding new light on this is a worthwhile cause. The playful easiness of children in dealing with colors and forms has inspired many great masters. Even Picasso himself said once: ‘It takes a whole lifetime to become a child.’
I was able to observe how children painted pictures with a similar strong statement as the great abstract painters. This is how I created the motives from the series ‘Children paint famous painters’ which is illustrated here in the beginning. Children encourage me to believe in peace. Their inspiration is giving unconditionally. They teach us faith and trust.”
The series “Children” has been in continual growth since 1993 and culminates in the artist’s current work.
