A love for music and a real connection to traditional drawing techniques challenged the artist in 1989 when he began creating the "Jazzpaintings" cycle. The translation of this idea into black and white was a conscious choice. While playing almost entirely for white audiences, intensity and vital energy were the attributes demanded of these stellar musicians.
